Responding to Kperogi’s Jaundiced View of the INEC Chairman
I have followed Kperogi since the tenure of President Jonathan through Buhari and now Tinubu. Yet I rarely find his work interesting or educational. He comes from Kwara State and often writes about its religious and tribal dynamics. From his articles, I sense deep-rooted bias against the Yoruba, Christians, and other groups. He openly criticized the appointment of Prof. Joash Amupitan, a Yoruba Christian, as INEC chairman. His recent piece on this appointment reads more like a veiled personal attack than objective analysis. INEC has since debunked the claims and confirmed the chairman never operated an X account. Those fake accounts are the work of cyber criminals, and Kperogi’s article relies on their misinformation.
