Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man accused of impersonation, criminal trespass, attempted rape and theft at Malikiyya College of Health Sciences in Old GRA, Bauchi. Police said the suspect allegedly entered the female students’ lodge around 2:30 a.m. on July 24, 2026, wearing police-style camouflage and claiming to work with a private security firm. He was arrested after the college raised a distress call. Investigators said he has also been linked to several theft reports in the hostel area. The camouflage uniform was recovered, and the suspect remains in custody pending the conclusion of investigations and possible prosecution. The police warned private security outfits and individuals against impersonating security agencies, while assuring students of improved safety around schools in the state.

The alleged timing and location are deeply worrying. Students should be able to feel safe in their own lodge.

The college and police should review night access, verify security personnel clearly, and give students a simple way to report suspicious visitors quickly.
