Gololo Praises Abdulsalami Abubakar’s Courageous Handover at Autobiography Launch

Hon. Mohammed Gololo joined dignitaries at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to launch General Abdulsalami Abubakar’s 264-page autobiography, Call of Duty. Gololo highlighted the book’s account of the 1999 transition from military rule and commended Abdulsalami for resisting pressure to cling to power. The launch drew political leaders, diplomats and Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Tinubu. He added that for over two decades Abdulsalami has promoted peace, unity and democratic stability through wise counsel and mediation. Call of Duty, Gololo said, offers valuable lessons on leadership, sacrifice and service for future generations.

Gololo's emphasis on Abdulsalami's courage reminds us how rare such peaceful military handovers were, yet the book might gloss over deeper power struggles.

Maybe readers can use Abdulsalami's narrative to draft clear guidelines for future transitions, ensuring handovers remain transparent and accountable.
