DBN Reaches N1 Trillion Milestone, Empowers Over One Million MSMEs
The Development Bank of Nigeria has disbursed more than N1 trillion to over one million micro, small and medium enterprises since 2017, creating 1.6 million jobs nationwide. The bank partners with 84 financial institutions to offer long-term loans, credit guarantees and training. Women-owned businesses account for 77 percent of beneficiaries, while 28 percent are youth-led. Since its launch, DBN has extended N108 billion to over 132,000 enterprises in conflict-affected states like Borno, Yobe and Zamfara. In 2025 alone, it provided N358 billion to 289,000 businesses and added five new partner banks. Over the next five years, DBN aims to build a N1 trillion loan portfolio, issue N500 billion in guarantees, support two million MSMEs and raise N1.3 trillion in funding. It plans to direct 40 percent of lending to women, 30 percent to youth and 15 percent to underdeveloped regions.
