PDP Leadership: Court of Appeal Dismisses Turaki’s Appeal, Upholds High Court Ruling
A. The Court of Appeal rejected the preliminary objection that challenged Chief Ajibade’s authority after his suspension. It held that any actions by him post-suspension were invalid. B. On the main appeal, the court agreed with the lower court on four issues: fair hearing, jurisdiction, locus standi and the validity of notice. It found that the federal courts rightly enforced statutory compliance by INEC beyond internal party matters. The appeal was dismissed in full and the Federal High Court judgment upheld. Costs of ₦2 million were awarded against the appellants. The verdict reaffirms Abdulrahman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu as the recognized leadership of the PDP, as previously settled by the High Court and affirmed by the Supreme Court.
