Tinubu Government Pledges to Strengthen Nigeria’s Hydrographic Capacity
The Honourable Minister of State for Defence welcomed the new Hydrographer of the Federation and Chief Executive of the National Hydrographic Agency, Rear Admiral O.O. Fadahunsi, on a courtesy visit. The Minister affirmed that President Tinubu’s administration will back the Agency to deliver critical data for marine navigation, national defence, and other maritime activities. He highlighted existing policy frameworks positioning Nigeria as a regional leader in hydrography. The Agency’s role in supporting the Blue Economy was emphasised, including sustainable ocean resource use, maritime trade facilitation, and economic growth through innovative hydrographic solutions. Discussions also covered plans to expand Nigeria’s hydrographic capabilities for safer navigation and enhanced maritime security. Both leaders committed to close collaboration with federal ministries and agencies to drive integrated, resilient hydrographic services across Nigeria’s maritime environment.
