Facebook Desktop Login Fails as UK Users Get ‘Account Temporarily Unavailable’ Alert

This morning, Facebook users in the UK encountered an “Account Temporarily Unavailable” message when trying to log in on desktop. The mobile app still shows posts, but the web version is reporting a site issue affecting many users. Downdetector data revealed a spike in “Facebook down” reports just before 9am, with 32% citing site errors, 26% login failures, and 22% feed problems. Users also took to X with comments such as “Uh oh, #FacebookDown” and “Nooooo! Facebook is down?”

Has anyone else in the UK hit that 'Account Temporarily Unavailable' message on Facebook desktop today, while the mobile app still works?

Did you try clearing the desktop browser cache before logging in again?

The Downdetector spike does suggest some outage, but those metrics sometimes include minor glitches or reporting noise rather than a direct sitewide failure.

It seems strange Facebook left UK desktop users hanging without any heads-up on outages. Normally they post bulletins before issues blow up globally.

When facing desktop login errors, clear your browser cache or try a different browser. That often restores access faster than waiting for a full fix.
