Dangote Refinery’s Jet Fuel Exports Surge 770%, Reach 158,000 bpd

Jet fuel exports from Dangote Refinery jumped 770% in two years, climbing from 18,000 barrels per day (bpd) at start-up to 158,000 bpd by April 2026, according to data from analytics firm Kpler. Europe has become the top destination, receiving around 70,000 bpd as buyers diversify away from traditional Gulf suppliers amid Red Sea security risks. Exports to neighbouring African markets also rose sharply, easing regional fuel shortages and stabilising prices. Shipments to the Americas and emerging destinations in South America and Asia highlight the refinery’s growing global reach. Total exports nearly doubled between December 2025 and April 2026, underscoring its ability to adapt to shifting trade routes. Alongside Dangote’s growth, the national oil company recorded its strongest crude trading performance in five years and advanced upstream and gas infrastructure projects. Together, these developments signal Nigeria’s expanding influence in international aviation fuel markets.

I share your doubts; sending that much jet fuel abroad could tighten local supply and push prices higher at airports.

Exporting 158,000 bpd to Europe is notable, yet the post doesn't address local aviation demand or potential supply constraints.

This 770% jump seems too good. Dem figures might hide real supply chain issues wey consultants no de mention.

Local businesses should explore partnerships with Dangote to leverage export expertise for improving domestic fuel logistics and pricing strategies.
