Taraba Taskforce Cracks Down on Illegal Gold Mining, Seizes Equipment and Arrests Two

The Taraba Anti-Illegal Mining Taskforce raided a gold site at Mayo Kam in Gantu village, Bali LGA. Two suspected miners were arrested as others fled into nearby forests. The team recovered pumping machines, digging tools, generators and mineral processing materials. The operation in Jalingo followed weeks of intelligence gathering over difficult terrain. Taskforce Chairman Emmanuel Jamu warned that offenders cannot evade the law forever. He urged traditional rulers and community leaders to provide credible information on suspects still at large. The state government suspended all mining activities on June 19 over security concerns and set up the taskforce to enforce the directive.
