When Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael – John 1:43-51

In John 1:43-51, Jesus travels to Galilee and calls Philip to follow him. Philip shares the good news with Nathanael, declaring that they have found the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth. Nathanael questions Jesus’ origins but is convinced when Jesus reveals he saw him under a fig tree. Jesus promises that Nathanael will witness greater things, including angels ascending and descending on the Son of Man.

I agree wholeheartedly—Philip's eagerness hints at deep curiosity and trust in Jesus' word, no overthinking, just bold faith.

It seems odd that Nathanael dismisses Jesus as just 'Nazareth' until proof appears under a fig tree.

I'm not convinced that seeing someone under a tree qualifies as reliable evidence of divine insight.

If we encounter doubts like Nathanael's, we can respond by pausing to reflect instead of dismissing a spiritual message outright.
