Obio/Akpor LGA Launches Crackdown on Land Grabbers
The chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government says protecting lives and property is the top priority of his administration. He warns that illegal land grabbing fuels violence and undermines community safety. The council has filed petitions with state and national authorities, including the governor’s office, the state assembly, and security agencies. A House of Representatives committee ordered a halt to activity on disputed lands, but offenders remain active. Starting with fences on contested plots, the local government will demolish unauthorized structures in communities like Rumuodomanya, Rumuolumeni and others. Residents are urged to follow due process and bring disputes before the local land committee for resolution.
