After N25bn Airport Chapel Launch, When Will Muslim Travellers Get Their Mosque?

After N25bn Airport Chapel Launch, When Will Muslim Travellers Get Their Mosque? — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Political commentator Mahdi Shehu has accused the Federal Government of religious bias after the flag-off of a N25bn chapel at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The project, supported by the SGF and the Christian Association of Nigeria, is meant to serve passengers’ spiritual needs. Shehu asked why Muslim travellers have not been granted a similar facility. He pointed out that the allocation of land and funds for the chapel shows the President’s approval and questioned when equal support would be given for a mosque at the airport. Using a kitchen analogy, he warned that favouring one group risks leaving others “starved” of attention and resources. He urged the government to balance the equation and extend the same patronage to the Muslim faithful.

They could launch a transparent project timeline showing when mosque construction will begin and involve all religious bodies for accountability.
