Six Incumbent APC Reps Lose Benue Primary Tickets to Governor’s Faction
Six House of Reps members under the APC in Benue were defeated in the party’s primaries held in Makurdi. Most of those ousted were considered loyal to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume. They lost to candidates aligned with Governor Hyacinth Alia. Key defeats include Austin Achado (Gwer East/Gwer West), David Ogewu (Oju/Obi), Terseer Ugbor (Kwande/Ushongo), Sekav Iyortyom (Buruku) and Dickson Tarkighir (Makurdi/Guma). Successful incumbents who retained tickets include Regina Akume (Gboko/Tarka) and Blessing Onuh (Otukpo/Ohimini). According to the APC committee chairman, all winners met electoral requirements despite ward cancellations and security challenges during the vote.
