Senate Approves Lamido Yuguda as CBN Deputy Governor, Names Peggy Onuwu to NDIC Board

The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Lamido Yuguda as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and approved Peggy Onuwu as an independent director on the board of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation. During plenary, the Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions reported that both nominees met the legal requirements under the CBN and NDIC Acts. Their academic and professional credentials were vetted and cleared by the police and the Department of State Security Services, and they presented their code of conduct acknowledgement slips. Senators noted no petitions against either candidate. After thorough screening and questioning, the committee recommended their confirmation based on their relevant expertise and suitability for the roles.
