Struggling to Clear Failed Exam and Join NYSC: Seeking Advice

Struggling to Clear Failed Exam and Join NYSC: Seeking Advice

I studied at a public university in the South-South and worked welding, bricklaying, and poultry jobs to pay my fees. Each semester I returned to manual labour just to stay in school. After graduating, I couldn’t afford my clearance in Lagos and moved to Oyo State to learn graphic design. Now my portal shows I’ve failed Introductory Statistics twice. I must clear it before I can register for NYSC next month, but I’m unemployed and can’t find labour work here. My support network is gone and my mother is seriously ill. Seeing coursemates in their NYSC uniforms makes me feel like I’ve failed. I’m not lazy, but I don’t know where to find work or funds to clear this exam. I’m emotionally drained and need serious advice on what to do next.

What steps are you taking now to fund your NYSC clearance after moving states and learning new skills?

Have you explored any specific funding options after the state move, or are you still planning broadly?

It's notable how often students juggle manual labour and studies, yet fees and clearance costs still create barriers.

I agree. It makes me wonder how many students struggle balancing work and rising fees just to stay enrolled.

You could create a simple budget plan based on your welding and bricklaying income, then allocate funds specifically for exam fees and clearance.
