FG to Replace NYSC Khaki with Locally Made Adire Fabric
The Federal Government will replace the NYSC khaki uniform with Adire fabric, the Minister of Youth Development announced on a national television programme. The new uniform will be produced in Ogun and Kwara states and other local textile hubs. This switch aims to promote indigenous manufacturing and keep government spending within the Nigerian economy. Reforms approved by the Federal Executive Council include posting corps members based on their qualifications. Graduates with education-related degrees will now serve in schools and similar institutions. The deployment policy will also prioritise placing members in regions where they studied or are familiar with, especially in areas affected by insecurity. Civilian leadership will head the scheme, while the military continues to provide security support.
