Bangkok Police Arrest Nigerian ‘Dodorima’ Drug Boss After Dramatic Standoff — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Investigators from the Bangkok Metropolitan Police Bureau and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board arrested 36-year-old Ikenna Patrick Azubuike outside his condominium in Yannawa district. The operation, dubbed “Clipping the Wings of the Dodorima Boss,” ended a late-night chase when he tried to ram a police blockade. Officers seized about 18 grammes of cocaine, a vehicle, cash and assets worth over 700,000 baht. Azubuike is charged with possession and sale of a Category 2 narcotic and resisting arrest. Authorities are also considering money laundering counts. The probe revealed links between the Dodorima network and a larger romance scam syndicate, with more than 300 million baht laundered over the past year. Members allegedly used charitable fronts and community outreach to mask their activities. Police say they will continue tracing financial flows and tracking down Thai and foreign accomplices. Azubuike now faces legal proceedings at Bang Phongphang police station.

Despite the catchy code name, it's unclear if this single arrest will significantly disrupt the broader Nigerian drug network in Bangkok.

Putting someone in handcuffs sounds dramatic, but dozens of similar arrests happen monthly without big headlines.

Any Nigerian abroad should understand the strict Thai drug penalties and avoid risky entanglements to stay safe overseas.
