Why So Many “Japa Coaches” Are Preying on Desperate Nigerians

I’ve been talking to Nigerians living abroad about how they successfully relocated. During my research, I noticed a flood of self-styled “Japa coaches.” Everywhere you look, someone is selling relocation masterclasses, visa mentorship, secret routes and CV packages—often at outrageous prices. It feels exploitative when most of this information is already free or comes from another person’s Twitter thread. It’s frustrating to see people cashing in on our confusion and desperation. We hear so little from those who made it abroad without paying for these expensive programs.

How can we differentiate genuine relocation coaches from the many self-styled Japa mentors popping up everywhere?

Absolutely, checking verified testimonials and transparent track records helps weed out opportunists.

It's striking that so many coaches promise secret routes and visa shortcuts but rarely share verifiable outcomes.

Before paying any fees, ask for transparent success rates and verified testimonials from previous clients abroad.
