Bauchi Police Arrest Woman After Boiling-Water Attack on Pregnant Co-wife Kills Newborn

Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman accused of pouring boiling water on her pregnant co-wife during a domestic dispute in Daba Village, Bauchi LGA. Police said the alleged assault occurred on 17 July 2026. The 30-year-old victim was taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital with severe burns. She gave birth to a baby boy on 19 July, but the newborn reportedly suffered severe burn injuries and died the same day. The mother is said to be stable and responding to treatment. The suspect is in custody, while the case is to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
