Army Announces Major Shake-Up, Appoints New GOCs and Commanders

The Nigerian Army has implemented a wide-ranging redeployment of senior officers to boost operational effectiveness and response to security threats. The approval by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, covers General Officers Commanding, brigade commanders, school commandants and key staff at Army Headquarters. Notable postings include Major General W.M. Dangana as GOC 3 Division and Commander of Joint Task Force Enduring Peace, and Major General E.I. Okoro as GOC 6 Division and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force Delta Safe. The reshuffle extends to emerging warfare domains with Major General S.A. Emmanuel leading the Nigerian Army Space Command, while Major General O. Adegbe heads Intelligence and Security at Defence Headquarters. Several commanders have also been appointed across logistics, training and institutional development schools. The COAS charged all appointees to demonstrate exemplary leadership, professionalism and innovation in defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and maintaining peace. The Army reiterated its commitment to a professional, combat-ready and people-oriented force.
