Ex-NSIPA Boss Halima Shehu Denies Diverting ₦44bn, Demands Probe Findings

Former NSIPA chief Halima Shehu has denied diverting ₦44 billion from the agency’s social intervention funds. She said neither she nor her family members, friends or associates received any of the money under investigation. Shehu said she discovered financial irregularities after taking office and reported them to the relevant authorities. According to her, some fund transfers were made without her approval, while certain programme managers operated outside NSIPA’s established framework. She said she petitioned the EFCC and ICPC over the alleged breaches of due process, but was suspended about 10 weeks later. Shehu urged the Federal Government to publish the findings of its NSIPA investigation, insisting that investigators found no public funds in her accounts or those linked to her relatives.
