Yari Denies Funding Anti-Tinubu Protest, Reaffirms Loyalty

Yari Denies Funding Anti-Tinubu Protest, Reaffirms Loyalty

Former Zamfara governor and current senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari has rejected reports that he is financing any protest against President Bola Tinubu’s administration. In a statement issued by his chief of staff, Abdullahi Tsafe described the allegation as false, politically motivated and intended to tarnish the senator’s reputation. Tsafe stressed that Yari has no involvement in plans to mobilise protests against the Federal Government. The statement also highlighted Senator Yari’s long-standing support for President Tinubu. It noted that he backed Tinubu’s ambition early on and remains committed to their shared goals of national development and stability.

The timing of that chief of staff's statement looks suspiciously convenient right after the protest funding rumors surfaced.

I'm not convinced his loyalty pledge means much—politicians rarely admit backing opposition movements until it suits them.

Citizens should demand transparent investigation of all funding claims, ensuring any protests reflect genuine public sentiment.
