Former Governor Henry Seriake Dickson has urged Ijaw leaders to reconcile and support the newly elected President of the Ijaw National Congress, High Chief McDonald Ebi Igbadiwe. He congratulated Igbadiwe’s team and expressed confidence in their ability to lead effectively for the Ijaw Nation. Dickson praised the Bayelsa State Government and stakeholders for forming a reconciliation committee after the election disputes. He believes prompt implementation of the committee’s recommendations will restore harmony and lasting peace within the INC. Drawing on his experience as governor, Dickson highlighted dialogue, sacrifice and unity as the path to resolving internal disputes. He called on all leaders across party lines to speak with one voice on issues affecting the Ijaw Nation and cautioned against actions that could divide the community.
