Tinubu Sacks NMDPRA CEO, Appoints Rabiu Abdullahi Umar Pending Senate Approval
President Tinubu has removed Saidu Mohammed as Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and named Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as his replacement, effective immediately and subject to Senate confirmation. The decision follows the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 and aims to boost regulatory effectiveness under the Renewed Hope Agenda. Umar is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in energy, manufacturing and infrastructure. A graduate of Accounting from Bayero University and an alumnus of Harvard Business School, Umar will assume full leadership once confirmed. In the interim, the most senior NMDPRA official will serve in an acting capacity.
