Abia Solidarity Forum Raises Alarm Over Smear Campaign Targeting Chima Anyaso
The Abia Solidarity Forum claims political interests are planning petitions and media campaigns to falsely implicate Labour Party aspirant Dr Chima Anyaso in financial crime allegations ahead of the 2027 elections. The group briefed journalists in Umuahia on unverified reports that agencies like the EFCC, police and DSS may be pressured for political purposes. While backing lawful probes based on credible evidence, the forum warned against using security and anti-corruption bodies as tools in political battles. It urged these agencies to stay professional, impartial and follow due process as campaign season intensifies. The forum also appealed for peaceful conduct by all political actors in Abia State. It asked voters in Bende Federal Constituency to judge candidates on integrity, competence and commitment rather than unsubstantiated claims, and encouraged supporters to uphold the rule of law and respect democratic competition.
