Manufacturing VAT Hits N1.17 trn in 2025, NBS Data Shows
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria’s manufacturing sector generated N1.17 trillion in VAT revenue for 2025. That marks a 46% rise from N803.53 billion in 2024. Quarterly receipts remained steady: Q1 at N286.95 billion, Q2 at N297.68 billion, Q3 at N290.79 billion and Q4 at N292.12 billion. The sector contributed 8.05% to real GDP in 2025, slightly below the 8.24% share recorded the previous year. Key drivers included consumer goods, cement production and industrial materials, underscoring manufacturing’s vital role in diversifying Nigeria’s non-oil economy. Overall VAT collections reached N2.19 trillion in Q4 2025, up 12.84% year-on-year despite a 3.78% quarterly dip. Growth was supported by local production, imports and foreign transactions. Recent reforms – notably MSME presumptive tax rules introduced in early 2026 and four major tax laws signed by the president in mid-2025 – aim to boost compliance and widen Nigeria’s tax base.
