ADC Secures Venue in Abuja After Alleged Government Obstruction
The African Democratic Congress has confirmed the Rainbow Event Centre in Abuja as the venue for its national convention on April 14. The announcement came hours after a senior party official accused the federal government of deliberately frustrating venue approvals. According to party sources, plans to use Eagles Square through the FCT Minister’s office and the Moshood Abiola Stadium velodrome were rejected without clear reasons. Private event centres also reportedly declined requests over fears of intimidation. Despite these setbacks and an ongoing leadership dispute within the party, the ADC says its convention will go ahead as scheduled and that INEC has been duly notified. The development follows protests by prominent opposition figures at INEC headquarters over alleged government interference.
