FG Releases N11.8bn Zero-Interest Loans to Over 6,800 Tertiary Staff

The Federal Government has disbursed N11.8bn in zero-interest loans to 6,842 academic and non-academic staff across 141 federal universities, polytechnics and colleges of education under the Tertiary Institutions Staff Support Fund. Launched in August 2025 by the Ministry of Education and TETFund, the programme offers eligible staff up to N10m each. Data show 34,000 verified applicants from 219 institutions, with federal university staff accounting for 59%, polytechnics 23% and colleges of education 18%. Under the broader Education Sector Renewal Initiative, 240 e-tricycles have been distributed to 12 institutions. Other projects include the EduRevamp Teacher Platform with 37,000 registered users and the School Safety Portal mapping over 156,000 schools to enhance security management.
