Three Killed, Several Injured in Suspected Herders’ Attacks on Benue Communities
At least three people were killed and two others injured in attacks by gunmen suspected to be herders in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State between July 25 and 26, 2026. The council chairman said one person was killed in Elulu community on Friday, while a resident was injured and had his motorcycle stolen. The attackers later entered Agadagba to rustle cattle but withdrew after residents and vigilantes resisted them. They reportedly returned on Saturday and killed two more residents. Security personnel and local vigilantes have been deployed to the affected communities. Residents also reported separate attacks in Ogoli and Igblagidi, Ugboju, where three people sustained gunshot injuries and several cows were rustled.
