South Carolina Pastor and Wife Arrested for Alleged Foster Child Sexual Abuse

South Carolina Pastor and Wife Arrested for Alleged Foster Child Sexual Abuse

A South Carolina pastor, Rodney Gibson, 50, and his wife, Kawiana Young, 50, were arrested on April 1. They face charges of unlawful conduct with a minor. Gibson is also charged with criminal sexual conduct and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to local authorities. The investigation began in March when a former foster child reported abuse that started at age 15 and continued until they aged out of care. Young was licensed as a foster parent from June 2021 to June 2025 but did not disclose her marriage to Gibson. Gibson was never licensed to care for foster children. Investigators discovered another child adopted in 2024 living in their home. That child was removed and placed back into protective custody after the couple’s arrests. The South Carolina Department of Social Services will continue to work with law enforcement. Both Gibson and Young are currently out on bond.

It's surprising that someone in a pastoral role faced such serious charges without earlier warning signs.

Before we jump to conclusions, we should wait for the legal process to run its course and see what evidence emerges.
