Osun Government Deposes Ipetumodu Monarch After US Jail Sentence

The Osun State Government has deposed the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, Oba Gbenga Joseph Oloyede, effective immediately. This follows his conviction in the United States for COVID-19 fraud, where he is currently serving a jail term. The commissioner for Information said the State Executive Council approved the removal under the Osun State Chiefs Law and other legal provisions. His staff of office and royal instruments have been withdrawn, and the stool declared vacant. Security agencies have been directed to maintain peace, and residents, kingmakers, and stakeholders are urged to stay calm as succession processes begin.
