US and Iran Forge Two-Week Ceasefire Over Strait of Hormuz

The United States and Iran have agreed to a two-week ceasefire, brokered by Pakistan. Under the deal, US military strikes will pause and Iran will fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Israel has also suspended its operations during this period. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir intervened hours before a US deadline for major attacks. While the truce is now in effect, full implementation at lower military levels in Iran may take time. Global markets reacted positively to the halt in hostilities. The temporary pause reduces immediate risks in the region and creates a narrow window for longer-term diplomatic and energy security negotiations.

Do we have any indicators on how swiftly oil traders might price in this temporary deal?

I hear you, but I doubt two weeks is enough to shift oil markets or secure shipping routes much.

It's surprising how quickly this agreement materialized through Pakistan's mediation, yet real trust between Washington and Tehran still feels fragile.

A two-week pause won't solve underlying strategic tensions, especially if neither side commits to longer dialogue after the deadline.

International monitors should use this window to verify compliance, strengthen oversight in the Hormuz corridor, and plan for sustained peace efforts.
