Chelsea Complete Signing of Argentina Midfielder Valentín Barco

Chelsea have completed the signing of Argentina international Valentín Barco from RC Strasbourg on a seven-year deal running until 2033. The transfer fee was not disclosed. The 22-year-old midfielder is expected to join Xabi Alonso’s squad later in Chelsea’s pre-season programme. Barco began his senior career at Boca Juniors before joining Brighton in 2024 and later spending time on loan at Sevilla and Strasbourg. After helping Strasbourg qualify for European football in the 2024/25 season, Barco made his move permanent. He contributed 12 goals in 43 appearances last season and has earned five senior caps for Argentina, including a place in the country’s 2026 World Cup squad.
