Jigawa, Kano and Lagos are leading Nigeria’s second phase of Continuous Voter Registration, INEC data shows. Jigawa recorded 210,868 new voters, Kano followed with 196,486, and Lagos posted 192,075 sign-ups. At the low end, Ekiti had 32,475 registrants, Anambra 33,826, Ondo 35,280, Enugu 40,178 and Plateau 52,564. Regionally, the Northwest leads with 1,116,770 registrations. The Northcentral recorded 632,055, Southwest 600,583, Northeast 545,037 and Southsouth 535,204. The Southeast had the lowest total of 321,690. Women now form the majority of new registrants, making up 55.6% (2,082,361) while men account for 44.4% (1,666,343). The exercise started last August ahead of the 2027 general elections and runs until August this year. Eligible Nigerians are urged to register before the deadline.

Absolutely, it's striking that women took the lead; maybe targeted outreach and fewer bureaucratic hurdles encouraged higher female registration.
