Port Harcourt to Host 2026 NWFL Super Six Finals

The Nigeria Women Football League has named Port Harcourt as the venue for the 2026 NWFL Premiership Super Six championship. The tournament runs from Friday, 5 June to Sunday, 14 June and marks the first time the Garden City will stage the season-ending playoffs. Six clubs will battle in a round-robin format, with each side playing five matches over nine days. Qualified teams include Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons and debutants Abia Angels. League officials praised Rivers State for its support of women’s football and urged all clubs to adhere strictly to competition regulations. The Super Six winner will be crowned national champion and earn Nigeria’s spot at the WAFU-B qualifiers en route to the CAF Women’s Champions League and the 2027 FIFA Women’s Club Championship.

I'm not convinced this location change will boost attendance as much as the league expects, given travel costs and local interest.

Clubs and fans should start planning travel and accommodation early to avoid last-minute price hikes or sold-out hotels in Port Harcourt.
