Ex-Florida Gubernatorial Nominee Andrew Gillum Charged with Meth and Marijuana Possession

Ex-Florida Gubernatorial Nominee Andrew Gillum Charged with Meth and Marijuana Possession

Former Tallahassee mayor and 2018 Democratic nominee Andrew Gillum now faces one felony and two misdemeanor counts in Alabama. Court records show he was stopped for alleged erratic driving on July 2 in Baldwin County. Officers say they found about three grams of meth, eight pre-rolled joints and various drug paraphernalia in his vehicle. Gillum won the Democratic primary in 2018 but lost the general election by roughly 30,000 votes. He is due to appear in an Alabama court as the case proceeds through the legal system.

Absolutely, it's surprising someone with that political background ended up facing drug possession charges.

It's striking how a routine traffic stop can escalate into felony and misdemeanor counts against such a high-profile individual.

Before jumping to conclusions, remember possession alone doesn't prove intent or habitual abuse in Gillum's case.

This case shows it pays to stay calm during stops and know your rights when officers search your vehicle.
