Why Gov Eno’s Choice to Suspend the Science Park Shows True Leadership
When Gov Umo Eno announced he would not use scarce state funds to revive the long-abandoned Science Park, he chose honesty over empty promises. He explained that unless private investors step in, public resources must address more urgent infrastructure and social needs. Every government faces trade-offs. As someone trained in economics, I recognize how opportunity cost underpins his decision. Rather than abandon inherited projects, Gov Eno has driven completion of the Smart International Terminal, the Deep Seaport, the International Conference Centre and dozens of roads, bridges and healthcare facilities across the state. This is not a rejection of innovation but a shift in delivery. By establishing Youth Development Centres in all 31 LGAs, his administration is taking ICT training, digital skills and creative enterprise directly to communities. True progress lies not in announcing grand visions but in finishing the projects that deliver jobs, security and better healthcare.
