Lagos Government: Movement Is Not Restricted During Monthly Sanitation
The Lagos State Government says there is no restriction on movement during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise. It stated that arresting anyone solely for moving during the exercise is unlawful and does not reflect state policy. Although the sanitation programme is backed by the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017, the law does not authorise movement restrictions. The government said the exercise is intended to promote environmental cleanliness and encourage Lagos residents to treat sanitation as a shared civic responsibility.
