Why the 2026 Budget Should Fix Nigerians Before Renovating Churches, Mosques and Palaces

I am shocked by the reported 2026 budget items for renovating churches, mosques and palaces while Nigerians are still dealing with kidnapping, insecurity, hunger, unemployment and rising inflation. To me, it sends the wrong message about what government thinks its real duty is. I also see the religion angle as a dangerous distraction. The argument over whether more money went to churches or mosques only exposes the same old hypocrisy and bigotry. If the allocations were reversed, the outrage would still be the same. My point is simple. Nigeria needs leadership that fixes citizens first, not public spending that flatters clerics and traditional rulers while the country keeps struggling. The budget should solve real problems, not deepen division.
