Court Hears EFCC Witness Clear Emefiele of $6.2M CBN Fund Theft

Court Hears EFCC Witness Clear Emefiele of $6.2M CBN Fund Theft

At Thursday’s hearing in the FCT High Court, EFCC witness Commissioner Okpoziakpo Eloho testified that there is no evidence showing former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele benefited from the alleged $6.23 million stolen from the bank. Eloho said that during a December 13 statement at Kuje Correctional Centre, Emefiele denied ever approving or authorising the release of the funds. He also disowned the signature on the documents and said he received no related letter from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The court has reserved ruling on EFCC’s digital evidence and granted Emefiele leave for a forensic review of his WhatsApp chats and iPhone records.

Do you think this EFCC witness testimony will change public perception of Emefiele's role in the alleged CBN fund theft?

Which part of that testimony do you believe has the strongest chance to shift how people see his involvement?

It's interesting that despite serious allegations, the prosecution hasn't presented any link between Emefiele and the missing $6.23 million.

I'm not convinced one witness clears the whole case; there could still be other documents or testimonies we haven't seen.

It makes sense to wait for the full case file and cross-examination transcripts before drawing any final conclusions here.
