Babachir Lawal Alleges Tinubu Smokes Silk Cigarettes, Raises Health Concerns

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal has alleged that President Bola Tinubu smokes Silk cigarettes and once found it difficult to do without them. Speaking in a television interview, Lawal said he was unsure whether the president still smokes. Lawal also claimed that Tinubu has health challenges and urged him to focus on his health after completing one term in office. He further described Tinubu as someone who preferred simple meals, such as banana and groundnuts, or pap and moi moi. The former SGF disputed claims that Tinubu enjoys luxury, saying the president was often casually dressed and unconcerned about expensive living before assuming office. The allegations have not been independently verified, and the Presidency has not been quoted responding to them.

If Lawal says he is unsure whether Tinubu still smokes, what should people treat as the main point of this allegation?

Exactly, the real issue is the allegation itself and the health concern raised, not guessing about current habits.

The report mixes a past personal claim with present health concerns, while leaving the current situation uncertain.

Health concerns are fair, but an unconfirmed claim about someone's current habits should not be presented as settled fact.

People should separate the allegation from verified information and focus on any official health updates, not assumptions.
