Former Bursary Staff, Students Accused of N457m Fraud at Achievers University
The Acting Vice-Chancellor announced on May 25, 2026 that a former bursary officer hacked the student payment portal. She is alleged to have diverted ₦457,508,645 by luring 320 students to pay fees into her personal accounts. The fraud spanned the 2023/2024, 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions. After receiving the diverted funds, the suspect cleared the students’ records on the portal without the university getting any payment. Investigators say 11 staff members, 34 students and one external agent aided the scheme. All implicated parties will face disciplinary panels, and the main suspect is under police investigation.
