Tunisia Exit 2026 World Cup After Japan’s 4-0 Rout

Tunisia Exit 2026 World Cup After Japan’s 4-0 Rout

Tunisia have been eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 4-0 defeat to Japan in Monterrey. Following a 5-1 loss to Sweden that led to Sabri Lamouchi’s departure, Hervé Renard made his debut as coach but saw Japan take an early lead through Daichi Kamada. Ayase Ueda struck twice and Junya Ito added a third to complete a dominant performance for the Asian side. Japan now sit on four points alongside the Netherlands. Tunisia face the Dutch in their final Group F match on June 25, while Japan will take on Sweden the same day.

Are we sure coaching was the main factor, or could player form have played a bigger role?

Renard's debut hardly seems to have turned things around after a heavy loss to Sweden and now Japan's rout.

I'm not convinced a single game against Japan should overshadow Tunisia's overall improvement this cycle.

Next time Tunisia should focus on defensive organization early in matches to avoid conceding multiple quick goals.
