They no longer rushed toward glittering bait. Soon I realized the same standards applied to me. My pride and unfinished healing drifted next to me like weeds. Some fish began examining hooks, rejecting bait, and even dragging careless fishermen underwater. Love became about who deserves it, not who catches it.
