Army Arrests Wanted Soldier in Maiduguri Over Alleged Supply of Military Items to Terrorists

The Nigerian Army says it has arrested Private Mohammed Yusuf, who was declared wanted over allegations that he supplied military items to terrorists and other criminal elements. Yusuf, a member of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, was arrested by troops of the 7 Provost Group in Maiduguri on July 25. The Army said he was intercepted at Jidari Bus Stop while allegedly attempting to flee to Cameroon. According to Operation HADIN KAI, the soldier absconded from his unit on July 7 and later went into hiding in the Gomari Costain area of Jere LGA. He is in military custody as investigations continue to determine the extent of the alleged activities and identify possible accomplices. The Army urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies as counter-insurgency operations continue in the North-East.
