Super Eagles Debutant Femi Azeez Nets Brace as Sodje Hails Him a Future Star
Former Nigeria defender Sam Sodje believes the Super Eagles have discovered a future star in Millwall forward Femi Azeez. Azeez marked his first appearance in Tuesday’s 2026 Unity Cup semi-final against Zimbabwe with two late goals. The 24-year-old English-born winger secured a 2-0 victory and sent Nigeria into Saturday’s final. Several other players also earned their first caps, including goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, Rafiu Durosinmi, Owen Useni, Aderemi Adeoye, Obinna Igboke and Chibueze Oputa. Sodje praised coach Eric Chelle for using this tournament to blood new talent. He said Azeez can hold his own alongside established stars and expects even bigger clubs to take notice.
