Supreme Court Upholds Umuchukwu Name Change and Confirms Igwe Maduka’s Election
The Supreme Court of Nigeria has declared the community’s renaming from Nkerehi to Umuchukwu final and binding. Any attempt to revert to the former name is now legally doomed, the Umuchukwu Progressive Union says. The union also reaffirmed that Kenneth Maduka’s election as traditional ruler followed due process. Held under the supervision of Anambra State authorities, the vote reflected overwhelming community support and remains valid without room for challenge. Residents are urged to ignore misleading claims and focus on unity and development under the duly recognized name and leadership of Umuchukwu.
