All Taxpayers to Get Mandatory Tax ID, NRS Announces

All Taxpayers to Get Mandatory Tax ID, NRS Announces

The Nigeria Revenue Service has said every taxable person must now register for a unique Taxpayer Identification Number (Tax ID). This requirement, issued in partnership with the Joint Revenue Board, is backed by Sections 6, 7 and 8 of the Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025. NRS explains the Tax ID will create a unified identity for individuals and businesses, eliminate duplicate records and simplify processes such as registration, filing and payment. The reform aims to strengthen tax administration, improve transparency and streamline service delivery at both federal and state levels.
