Awkward Meeting with a 13-Year-Old Stranger

On my way back from the market, I saw a tall girl standing in front of a house with two little boys. I greeted her, and she kindly replied, so I stopped to talk. I asked if she was their mother, but she said no. We introduced ourselves and chatted briefly. I then asked if we could be friends, but she declined, saying she doesn’t stay around here and wouldn’t be here tomorrow. I asked if she was in school and she said no. When I asked her age, she surprised me by saying 13. I realized she was just a child and decided to leave.
