Retired Gen. Ndiomu Rejects Bribery Claims Over Amnesty Role

Retired Gen. Ndiomu Rejects Bribery Claims Over Amnesty Role — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Maj. Gen. Barry T. Ndiomu (rtd.) has dismissed allegations that he paid funds to the President’s Chief of Staff to extend his tenure with the Presidential Amnesty Programme. In a statement, he described the rumours as false, baseless and malicious. He clarified that the Amnesty Programme falls under the Office of the National Security Adviser, not the Chief of Staff, and insisted he served only for the period specified in his appointment letter. He condemned the “reckless campaign of misinformation” on social media and announced a formal report has been lodged with authorities. Ndiomu urged the public and media to disregard the coordinated efforts to tarnish his reputation and affirmed he never authorised or participated in any improper payment.

With Ndiomu's denial out there, how do you think this will affect the amnesty programme's reputation going forward?

As an outsider, it's telling that these bribery claims still dey persist even after his clear statement rejecting them.

You make a good point, it's hard to dismiss persistent allegations even after a firm denial.

I'm not fully convinced his brief statement addresses where these persistent rumours started in the first place.

It might help if the amnesty office released a detailed financial report and appointment timeline to curb future speculation.
